The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that the Backstreet Boys will be honored with a star on the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 22, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. “Fans from around the world have been waiting for this big day since the Backstreet Boys’ selection was announced in 2012.” stated Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. “We expect a big crowd of enthusiastic fans right here at 7072 Hollywood Boulevard! The star will be next to the star of another popular boy band Boyz II Men.”
Emcee Leron Gubler, President & CEO of the Hollywood Chamber or Commerce and guest speaker Max Martin will help the Backstreet Boys unveil the 2,495th Star in the Category of Recording at 7072 Hollywood Boulevard near the Live Nation Building.
“Backstreet Boys fans who can’t make it to the star ceremony can watch their favorite band LIVE on www.walkoffame.com!” said Martinez.
Making history remains second nature for Backstreet Boys. The Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum pop-powerhouse has solidified itself as the biggest and best-selling boy band in history with sales exceeding 130 million albums worldwide. Meanwhile, they're also one of the only music artists to release seven consecutive albums in the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Two decades into their career, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Nick Carter are as strong as ever, and they're not stopping!
They initially formed in 1993 and began turning heads with their self-titled first album in 1996. Driven by the single "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)," Backstreet Boys instantly became pop stars. Superstar status soon followed with the release of their 1997 effort Backstreet's Back and a RIAA diamond certification for their debut—placing them in an elite club with Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and Billy Joel. Closing out the century with a bang, Millennium set the record for first-week sales in the United States at the time, moving 1.1 million units in merely seven days.
At the 1999 Billboard Music Awards, the band won the highest honors of "Artist of the Year," "Album Artist of the Year," "Album Artist Duo/Group of the Year" and "Album of the Year" for Millennium. Backstreet Boys upped the ante higher for 2000. They kicked off the year gracing the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, while Black & Blue topped their previous record and sold more than 1.6 million copies during release week. One month later, it was certified eight-times platinum. The subsequent tour grossed revenue of more than $100 million. Backstreet Boys released in 2005 Never Gone which also went platinum, thus continuing their bona fide hot streak and once again proving their staying power. In the meantime, they enjoyed high-profile collaborations with everyone from Elton John to Sting.
Their hits include such songs as Quit Playing Games (with my heart), I Want it That Way, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), As Long As You Love Me and many more. Kevin Richardson left the band in 2006 to pursue acting. During this time Backstreet Boys continued as a quartet and released two albums, Unbreakable and This Is Us. Both albums debuted Top 10 on the Billboard 200 charts and have since become fan favorites.
In 2010, Backstreet Boys took to the high seas for the inaugural Backstreet Boys Cruise. The S.S. Backstreet Boys has become an annual adventure that strengthens their bond with fans. One of pop's biggest moments occurred when Backstreet Boys historically merged with New Kids on the Block forming 2011's supergroup NKOTBSB and selling out arenas full of screaming fans worldwide.
This year marks 20 years of Backstreet Boys! With Kevin Richardson returning to the band, the Backstreet Boys will release new music and a new tour with the original five member lineup. The band has put together a 20th Anniversary Fan Celebration that will take place at the Fonda Theatre on April 20th – just a day before the group is honored their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I agree with Megan... VIPs were for NKOTB FANS.. not really towards bsb fans.. thats why I hold off.. I'm sorry for the ones that did purchase it..try reaching to NKOTB fans that r gonna be more than willing to get them.. =0/
Can people stop telling me I can't read? When these tickets went on sale for Mixtape VIP, NONE of this additional information was available. It wasn't implied that NKOTB will have more events. It wasn't implied that BSB wouldn't have any extra events or meet and greets. It was implied that anything additional, people paying $700+ and $500 for a more inclusive package, would have access to these. It was only fair. You pay more, you get more. Unfortunately, now that that's not the case, they should've originally said, if you pay $99 for a ticket to the show, you should save your pennies for more paid events that they're adding. They didn't say that. I'm upset because of the gouging of my wallet. So, stop telling me I can't read, because the day they went on sale, the information that's being quoted was not available.
You can resale your VIP ticket to NK fans who are looking for it since all VIP tickets are sold out. It seems Mixtape VIP only caters to NKOTB fans, most extra activities are NKOTB related.

@nickshawty noone said they went into debt for the backstreet boys or asked ur opinion on whether or not you thought we spent the money in the appropriate way. Thats not the issue. The issue is that when we spent our money that we worked to earn it was said that other events would be added and included. Thanks for ur concern however I dont think u meant that it isnt not smart cause that would mean it is. I find it really hypocritical for all of the people who did not buy VIP to be so concerned and upset with the fact that the people who did buy VIP are frustrated with the outcome. It really should not bother anyone else.
nicks girl, no its ok, im very upset over this right now. i just feel they mislead in order to get people to buy the VIP tickets versus the other tickets and your right its not the boys fault but they should know what their administrators are doing and make it right. they have the power to fire them or force them to make it right. the way they worded it in the VIP was purposely misleading. they should have made it clear another meet and greet would cost more, and no offense if im a bsb fan why would I care about just meeting the new kids? if that was the case id buy from thier website. the way they are revealing stuff little by little and insinuating is shady and misleading.
